FAQs
Q: What is counselling?
A: Counselling provides the time and space for an individual, couple or group to explore personal issues, problems, thoughts and feelings.
Our Counsellor will listen and prompt in a non-judgemental manner with empathy and understanding, helping you to fully consider your issues and concerns.
The aim of our Counsellor is to support you as you work through these issues, relationships, thoughts and feelings , helping you to identify ways of coping in the future.
Counselling is not about giving advice, telling the client what to do or simply having a chat.
CARE TO LISTEN aim to provide the most appropriate counsellor for each client, couple or family.
Q: How long will I need to have counselling?
A: This is different for everyone. No two individuals have exactly the same problems and try to cope with them in exactly the same way, so there is no definite answer to this question.
Some issues can be dealt with fairly quickly and our counsellor can help you to implement new ways of coping, which are then managed very successfully.
Other clients can find this method difficult and will want to understand more about themselves and why the problem has arisen in the first place. This will invariably involve more sessions and the counsellor will help you to explore childhood issues and relate these to the present day.
At CARE TO LISTEN we work in an integrative way, which allows us to pick the most suitable type of counselling for each client.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: CARE TO LISTEN aim to provide affordable and flexible counselling for all their clients, especially in the current ‘credit crisis’.
Our fees range from £45 to £60 per 50 minute session
Couples and family counselling sessions are more expensive than individual sessions, this reflects the additional work required.
We accept cash or cheques and fees are payable at each session.
We are able to offer some reductions to those clients who would otherwise be unable to access our service. Where funding is available we can also offer a low cost subsidised service (please call to discuss).
Q: How do I know which counsellor to choose?
A: There is no definite answer to this question. Choosing a counsellor is similar to choosing any other professional service and you may have to contact several before you feel comfortable with the counsellor and service provided.
CARE TO LISTEN would be happy to answer any other questions by phone or e mail
